Message from the Trustees of the Friends of Llanfrechfa Grange Walled Garden 27th March 2020
The trustees have since explored whether restricted access could be resumed within the daily exercise rules. While gardening and indeed allotment management is considered an allowed activity, the advice is that people should not drive to their allotments/gardens. Our volunteers travel to the garden from across Gwent and this, together with several other risk factors, means that the garden will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
In anticipation that this would happen our volunteers put in a huge effort over the last week to plant out as much as possible and to mulch our new trees and shrubs. Tender plants have been found temporary homes with volunteers who will also plant seeds to grow at home or in the garden should we be able to return at some point in the summer.
The Trustees will review the position regularly and will aim to resume work in the garden as soon as we can do so safely and within government guidance.
Volunteers and members are encouraged to stay in touch though our website, Facebook page and the regular volunteers’ WhatsApp group or via email.
