Well we have 14 months before the Grange University Hospital is due to open so we are aiming to get the Garden safe for visitors by that time. Path laying is the most essential part of this aim, so we would really appreciate help from anybody wishing to volunteer this spring.
Here are the dates for the next working party weekends, the first of which is this coming Saturday. Morning session will be 10am to 1pm, afternoon session 1.30pm to 4.30pm (or come for as long or short as you wish!)
Saturday 22nd Feb (Wales v France KO 16.45)
Sunday 15th March
Saturday 4th April
A light lunch such as soup and a roll will be provided and we usually have plenty of cake too!
Work will be mainly manual, as we have more paths to lay, marking and making borders for paths, barrowing soil and chippings, preparing flower and veg beds, etc. However, for those who cannot do heavy manual work, there will probably be some seed sowing to do and help with food preparation, teas, coffees etc, is always welcome. As the weather forecast is not great, the work plan will be adjusted accordingly and we will cut short the sessions if need be. At this stage any help will be a step in progress and much appreciated.
I do hope you can spare a few hours to help us with this fantastic project!
We are pleased to announce a series of Working Party dates and would love to hear from you if you can help. This is primarily to make a start on constructing what we are calling the “reflective quadrant” in the northwest corner of the garden.
This part of the garden has been cleared of vegetation and has been dormant for a few months and we need to get paths laid out so we can plant up the beds in the autumn. Work will involve digging and laying paths, but we have plenty of lighter work that will need doing also. Whatever your abilities/interests we can find something for you to do! The dates/times are:
Saturday July 13th – 10am to 1pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm Saturday August 10th – (times as above) Saturday September 7th – (times as above)
We will also be offering a lunchtime BBQ as a thank you for volunteering efforts and an opportunity to socialise. Please consider supporting these working parties to help us progress the next exciting stage of the garden development.
If you would like to volunteer for one of these events, please let us know by e-mailing us at email@example.com so we know who to expect and can cater accordingly.
We hope lots of people will come to one of our events to visit the Walled Garden site at Llanfrechfa Grange and to see and have an opportunity to discuss the design put together by our volunteer design team. If you can’t make it however, please visit our new Garden Design page and complete our online survey (only 6 questions)!
The survey will be available until the end of September, after which we will be evaluating the feedback and deciding our next steps.
